![]() ![]() So while this glitch may impact the Any% speedrun, there are still plenty of opportunities for fans to try their hand at speedrunning Elden Ring even if not through skips or tricks. Other speedruns include finishing the game without getting hit, which has been done in under 3 hours by Seki, and completing the game as quickly as possible while getting all Great Runes, and many other categories. The Any% speedrun is simple: finish the came in any capacity as quickly as humanly possible. Even if that were to happen, though, the Zip is only allowed in one type of speedrun. It is unclear whether or not FromSoftware will release an Elden Ring patch that removes this particular exploit from the Elden Ring speedrunner's bag of tricks, and if that were to happen, this current speedrun record may face little competition as runners move on to the latest version of the game. That is, at least in a nutshell, how so many players have been able to speedrun through Elden Ring. ![]() Finally, input the movement key just as the idle animation loops. Then, release the movement key at the 139th frame (frame perfect). To get the most effective Zip possible, the game must run at a steady 60 FPS, hold block, and after a window of 125-135 frames, input a movement key either forward or backward while "slow-walking" during a window of 4-10 frames. To pull off this Elden Ring speedrun glitch, the player needs to first hold the block button while either idle blocking via two-handing a weapon, or one-hand idle blocking with a shield. The idle blocking animation will loop, and during this time the Zip can occur if the player walks forward at the exact frame that the idle animation loop happens. The methods used to perform the glitch could be considered more complicated than Elden Ring's story, so speedrunner hopefuls will need to make note of the many steps required for the trick to work properly. The discovery of the Zip came weeks after the latest patch which made many of the previous speedrunning techniques like the Hoarfrost Stomp attack, Icerind Hatchet, and Elden Ring's Mimic Tear Spirit Ash trick less effective. While the explanation is simple, performing the Zip requires precision timing and other factors in order to work. It effectively sends a player to another part of the map at a high speed, resulting in sequence breaking the game and skipping massive parts of the map. ![]() The Zip is responsible for many of the Elden Ring speedruns that have been posted, including Distortion2's world record speedrun. ![]()
